A message from the 2026–27 principal

Welcome to Blackshear Fine Arts Academy, a school rooted in tradition, creativity and community. For more than a century, Blackshear has been an important part of East Austin, and we are proud to continue that legacy by nurturing the whole child through academics, the arts and strong relationships.

At Blackshear, students learn in a vibrant environment where music, dance, visual arts and creative expression are part of everyday instruction. Our dedicated teachers and staff work to ensure every child feels seen, valued and inspired to reach their full potential.

We believe that when students are encouraged to think creatively, collaborate and persevere through challenges, they develop the confidence and skills needed for lifelong success.
