Though we would love to keep all of our students forever, we have to prepare for losing our amazing 5th graders! As they move on in their educational journey, we want to ensure that our parents have everything they need to support this transition!

Austin Independent School District has several amazing middle school options to choose from, if your family intends on staying within AISD. We can provided information on the most common middle-school options for 5th graders transitioning from Blackshear, which are Kealing, O'Henry, Lamar, Ann Richards and Fulmore. We also support students who wish to apply to programs within an AISD middle-school that may be more rigorous than the traditional curriculum.

If you do not live in the zone of the middle school that your student would like to attend, you will need to apply for a transfer. Transfer requests are processed by the Office of Student Services, you can learn more about how to apply for a transfer HERE. In order to apply for a transfer online, you will need to have created a Parent Cloud account.
