Fundraising Committee:
This committee comes up with new and creative ways to support Blackshear, financially. They also maintain PTA Friday Snack sales, held the First Friday of every month after-school! Join this committee if you want to help support Blackshear, financially!
Little E.A.S.T Committee:
This committee helps come up with fun ways for families to engage with the Fine Arts Academy at Blackshear. We sign up for the Annual East Austin Studio Tours and turn our school into an art gallery, our students perform their musical instruments, the drama club does Shakespeare and improve shows, we host a silent auction and we participate in events like HONKTX, where we get to be a part of a street band parade that walks all over town! Join this committee if you want to continue to help support Fine Arts at Blackshear!
Teacher Appreciation Committee:
This committee helps organize fun ways to show Blackshear Teachers & Staff a little appreciation. We try to have something planned once a month, like coffee & treats in the Breakroom, getting missing supplies, and providing opportunities for Self-Care like providing massages one month or gift cards to local businesses the next.
Community Events Committee:
This committee helps plan and execute Bike to School Days, We Love Our Blackshear Day, HONKTx Parade, MLK March and other events during the school year. We are looking for a Chair or Co-Chairs for this Committee.
Garden Committee:
This committee helps beautify and maintain the landscaping around our school. They work with PEAS (Partners for Education, Agriculture & Education) on maintaining the Courtyard garden. We are looking for a Chair or Co-Chairs for this Committee.
PTA MEMBERSHIP DUES 2023-24:
$10.00 is the current cost of Membership Dues for the current academic year. We send National PTA & Texas PTA $5.50; and Blackshear PTA keeps $4.50.
What do you get out of paying Membership dues?
- Vote during all PTA general body meetings at Blackshear and the Austin PTA meetings to be a part of the decision-making on campus and in the city!
- Submit resolutions or legislative positions to address statewide problems, situations or concerns that affect children and youth to the Texas PTA to advocate for in the Texas legislature.
- Gain access to discounts and perks through your membership with Texas PTA!
